The curse has been broken!!!

So my claim to fame of never being surprised has officially come to an end!!  Poor Spencer has tried in the past to surprise me on different occasions, either birthdays or Christmas or just about anything.  Try as he might he I always figure out the surprises - either my putting the slipped-out clues together or just by his reaction when I "guess".  The worst part of surprises for me is that if I have any idea that someone is planning something, or getting something, it will eat at me until I finally figure it out - so the best part of a surprise is when I have absolutely NO idea there is anything going on at all.
Now that we have a little history on the matter - let me rewind to a few hours ago.  Today is my Birthday (yeah me!!) and Emily and I were planning on going to breakfast together - it was a perfect time since all of our kids were in school (yeah us!!).  Emily was going to pick me up at about 9:20 after she dropped the kids off at school - lovely idea.  Well, Emily was running a bit late and I knew she was ready cause she just picked my girls up for school.  So - I had a few minutes on my hands to digest and speculate the situation - I just knew why she was late ... she was picking up some of our friends to have a surprise breakfast for me ...yeah, she almost pulled it off but I figured it out at the last minute --- I was thinking how sweet she was to do that (she knows my feelings on surprises) and how excited I was to see all of our friends - and she pulls up .... in an empty car .... just her and me ..... while I was totally thrilled that we were going to breakfast I have to say I was maybe .0005% deflated that she had not tried to surprise me, oh well.
So - we get to One Man Band for breakfast (love that place!!) and as we walk in I notice a large group of ladies in the corner - and I recognized one of them as my dear friend Krissy - I though it was funny that we would have picked the same place and time for breakfast - - and then I noticed I knew the rest of the ladies at the table and so I was confused and asked Emily if she knew they were going to be here .... Of course Emily said yes - - it took me a few seconds (seemed like minutes) to process the fact that they were there for ME =)  HAHAH - even the big boutique of balloons did not give it away right off - - SHE GOT ME!!!  She totally surprised me - even after I saw the ladies it was still a surprise - - I have to admit I got a little emotional - the site of all my lovely friends was amazing - but also - we had finally broken the curse of the surprise-less-syndrome.
A big shout out goes to all of my AMAZING friends who were there and to all of you who wanted to be there but the timing just didn't work - I love you guys and will always remember the day the curse was broken ;)

You are too cute! I too HATE surprises...when I have a clue about them. They almost make me mad until I figure them out. Glad I could be a part of it! I really think you should reconsider lunch this week! ;) It was fun to hang out with you at breakfast- miss you!

Who knew you were blogging again! I just read this, a month later... Anyway, so glad I broke the curse! Yeah me! :) I'm thrilled you had no idea and were genuinely surprised and even confused. "Did you know they were going to be here?": priceless. Thanks for letting me be a part of your day and for being such a wonderful friend! :)
